REGISTRY TIPS
I have gotten lots of advice on how to set up my baby registry.  Here are the good ones:
  • Register for the things you really need - even the big stuff.  Family and friends can always go in on gifts together, or get you gift cards to the store that carries that item you need.
  • Register for onesies.   You will always need them.  Make sure to register for newborn or sz 0-3 mos so that you have enough for when you first get home:  Those first months are probably the hardest time to get out of the house and to the store.
  • Register for diapers, or at least make it known if you are choosing a specific kind of diaper so you can stock up with the right products.
  • Do your research.  Talk to other new moms about what they found to be important, and those items they've never even used.
  • Don't assume you will need every toy on the market.  Register for a bouncer or swing, but not both.  If it turns out your baby is not enjoying the swing - exchange it for the bouncer.  It isn't that big a deal.
  • Don't be afraid to exchange/return something you get from your family or friends.  If your baby is going to be 6 months old during the summer, the adorable bomber jacket sz 6 mos may not do you any good if it just sits in the closet.   Your friends and family will understand.
MY REGISTRY
My registry is a tad hectic.  I put a ton of research on the main stuff, but couldn't find everything in one place.  That is why I used the Amazon.com registry.  Amazon.com helped me because it does a good job of listing products from the everywhere stores like Target and Babies-r-us, as well as some more obscure online-only stores.  It also helped me find the best prices on everything.  I wouldn't want anyone to pay more just because of a limited registry.  That is why I encourage price-checking.  Nothing has to be purchased from the location on the registry.  That would just be silly.
With all that said, I have also placed some similar duplicated items on registries with Babies-r-us and Target for those who prefer in-store shopping.  Also, if there is something I missed you think I would need/love, let me know, I am open to more advice.  And gift cards are always welcome.

As for diapers, we (I) plan on using cloth diapers.  Specifically (chosen after research and recommendations) BumGenius One-Size All-in-ones with snap closures.  The reviews are very convincing, and if that doesn't get you, the impact (or lack there of) on the environment as well as your wallet will.  Parents spend thousands of dollars on diapers.  I can spend a quarter the price and have diapers that can even last through multiple children.  Unfortunately, BumGenius aren't sold in any of the big stores yet, so you might notice that they aren't on our registry.  But, if you truly are interested, we could always use diapers!  You can find places to purchase from their website, or just by Google searching.
